My new favourite scripture

November 2, 2011 at 6:57 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I have a good memory and I decided recently that if I can remember whole Shakespearean plays (don’t ask, I said I was odd) then remembering scripture shouldn’t be that difficult, it’s got easier English (at least the translation I read).

It’s amazing how difficult it is to remember it though. It’s surprising how I was able to remember one of the longer monologues from the Tempest (Ariel’s “you are three men of sin”) and yet it took me over a week to memorize 11 verses from Matthew.

However in the process I found a new scripture that has become my mantra of sorts.

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow can worry about itself. Today has enough troubles of its own.” Matt 6:34

Even if you don’t believe that this is Gospel or is more than just a myth, it still has a lot of good bits of advice in to live by.
